Yoga Studies & Teaching Style
- Study of Iyengar Yoga 1993 – 2000
- Study of Vinyasa, or Flow Yoga 1999 – 2004
- Study and Certification at 200-hour level in Kripalu Yoga June 2003
- Study and Certification in Whole Birth Prenatal Yoga in March 2004
- Continuing education and training with Paul Grilley of Yin Yoga, Shiva Rea, Sherrie Wade, Desiree Rumbaugh, and other amazing teachers.
My teaching style incorporates the best qualities of all the types of Yoga I have studied and practiced over the years: the precision of Iyengar, the breath and flow of Vinyasa, the mindfulness and awareness of Kripalu and Whole Birth, and the patience of Yin Yoga. My personal practice and teaching continues to evolve the more I practice.
I have spent 16 years studying yoga and meditation, learning how to integrate the wisdom of these powerful practices into everyday life. I am passionate about helping others do the same.
I teach Yoga and meditation (locally, and via Skype) and integrate these practices with the power of coaching (I am certified by Dr. Martha Beck), to help people quickly move past blocks and obstacles, to create businesses and lives that are in alignment with their personal desires.
“I am usually not someone who likes to be taught by friends no matter how capable or experienced I know they are in their field. I’m afraid that’s my own insecurities and self-consciousness. However, Nona blew those insecurities right out of the water with her gentleness, her warmth, and sense of humor. She is truly someone who cares and you can immediately feel that compassion which helped to ease away any inhibitions I might have had. I was drawn to Nona’s yoga classes because I was looking for something restorative and therapeutical in a small intimate group setting – I wasn’t looking for “power” yoga in a huge impersonal class. Nona’s classes were invigorating and challenging enough without being inaccessible to those of us who had either never done yoga or who had been off the mat for a while. I also enjoyed the incorporation of meditation into her class – I meditate alone at home, but there’s a different dynamic and energy when meditating within a group. I am living now in Ubud, Bali which is a hub for yoga and is a draw for many people throughout the world. While I have enjoyed some of the classes I’ve taken here, I’ve retreated into developing my own practice at home. None of the teachers I’ve met here so far come close to Nona’s great gift of imparting her knowledge, enthusiasm, care and joy to her students. I truly miss Nona’s yoga class and envy anyone who is able to have her as a teacher.”
