What DOES Yoga Have to Do with It?

January 23, 2012

Do you “own” your business?

I mean really own it, celebrate it, and feel great about what you offer and how much you charge?

Coaches, yoga teachers, healers, and creative entrepreneurs often have a strong aversion to thinking of themselves as business owners. These women also tend to feel a tremendous amount of resistance to thinking about, or dealing with, money – even though it is often a constant consideration.

I SO get this aversion.

Even as a corporate accountant and CPA I struggled with money, the work that I did, and my intrinsic worth. However, becoming an entrepreneur highlighted my need and desire to heal this part of my life – I knew on some level that success wasn’t going to be available to me if I didn’t do the work of unwinding the beliefs and patterns of action that had plagued me around money and worth my whole life.

The Yoga Connection.

Along with being a money and business coach, I am also a yoga teacher – in fact, I’ve been practicing yoga since 1994 and I’ve been a teacher since 2003 – the impact yoga and coaching have had on my business, and my life, is nothing short of miraculous.
As I began my own business and started to unwind and reconcile my own inner conflict around money, work, and worth – the yogic principles played an enormous role in helping me create a sustainable, abundant, joy-filled business. This work is at the heart and soul of what I help my clients master for themselves.

Increasing your worth begins with what happens inside of you.

The way that you think of yourself directly impacts the ways others treat you and respond to you (and your offers) – you must begin with shifting your beliefs and energy around how you think about yourself. Committing to the work of understanding – and expressing – your innate worth will naturally lead you to business success.

The Power Principles of Yoga – no mat required!

The physical practice of yoga is just one part of an entire system and philosophy for living well – but to tap into the power of yoga for your business, there is NO yoga mat required – unless you really want one!

The greater container of Yoga is about recognizing – and living – from a place of resonance -  which includes knowing that you are not broken – you are whole and worth every darn penny – and then some. As a healer, a teacher, a coach or a creative entrepreneur, there is a good chance that the story of worth that you have lived out until now probably doesn’t reflect that perspective.

The foundation of success is knowing that you are worth it.

The first five yogic principles (the yamas) provide a powerful framework to change the way you think, feel, and take action – moving you closer to what you truly desire in your business ventures. The power practices of yoga will help you navigate your business and life in a state of resonance – knowing that you – and the people around you – are totally worth it.

Practicing with the yogic power principles will help you appreciate, understand, and act on your brand of awesome, be honest with yourself and others in the best ways, happily create and hold strong boundaries (because you are worth it and so are the people around you!), manage your energy well, and utilize all of the amazing resources that are available to you in the present moment.

You ARE worth it. I promise.

Namasté, business yogini!
