Remembering You

May 17, 2011

You were born perfect.

You came with a purpose, into a set of circumstances and with a personality that would shape you for a destiny that only you can realize.  An unbelievable expression of the universe in action, right here on earth.

It’s true.  You have that kind of power.

The forgetting is part of the plan.

Most of us forget the power that we have.  Or we hide it away.  For whatever reason, the people in our lives say JUST the right things that lead us to believe that who we are isn’t quite right.  That we aren’t good enough, as is.  So we put on the mask of “supposed to” and “should”.  We do what “everyone else” is doing, so we will be loved, so we will be successful, so we will finally be “right”.

If we’re lucky, we wake up.

Because god knows, there are a lot of unhappy, overworked, exhausted people who are “successful” by “Everyone’s” standards.  The ones who get The Illness, who get in The Accident, who lose The Job, who experience The Trauma, they are the lucky ones.  I don’t say that lightly, as one who has experienced The Trauma(s) and The Illnesses repeatedly, I say that with respectful awe.  You (and me) ARE the lucky ones.

Difficulty strips away the bullshit.

As the bullshit falls away, we are left with a remembering of who we really are.  What it felt like to be in our skin before someone (or some circumstance) told us we weren’t quite right and we went into hiding. We remember the gifts and beauty that are ours to give and enjoy in this lifetime.

We wake up to our wholeness.

Remembering is the cornerstone of your business.  It is what allows you to stay grounded, to value yourself enough to ask for an honest income, to talk about what you do without feeling greasy (aka: marketing) and to truly, truly, and I mean TRULY serve your clients and help them transform. Because you’ve walked the road they find themselves on.

Waking up is being tempered by fire, strengthened by flame.

It usually hurts, and mostly, we humans just don’t like pain.  We resist it, fight it, move away from it… but the only way through it, is, well, through it.  The path to remembering you lies in embracing the pain and the resistance – finding the core of truth and the meaning that exists in and beyond the difficulties. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, shaped for a destiny that is yours alone.

Remember you, in your beautiful glory. I can’t wait to see you rise.

Wonderful words of encouragement. I have just left my day job and I know that those people were not my peeps and as I move into marketing my own business, everyone doesn’t have to like me, I can be myself and my peeps will find me.
