Changing the World

June 14, 2010

Late last week, I hopped on a trans-atlantic flight and came to Colorado for a Martha Beck Coaches Convention.  It was incredible to connect with so many amazing women who are healing and changing the world.  I felt completely blessed to finally meet in person so many of the women that I’ve been working with over the last year and I simply must share a few of them with you.

Jennifer Voss is a strengths-based coach who helps people play to their strengths to find careers they love and a weight that is perfect.  Her compassion, her humor, and her loving presence is a healing balm.  I might be a bit biased — I run Rocky’s Launchpad with her, which is a 3-month group to help coaches launch their business and I think she’s the best.

I had the great pleasure to meet Laurie Foley in person– the Martha Beck tribe’s branding and social media maven.  Delightful and easy to talk to, Laurie is one of my new favorite people who is changing the world with technology.

Helen Samson Mullen is another one of my favorite people.  She is intuitive, compassionate, and absolutely laser-focused on helping Moms stop waiting to live their lives.  Helen’s message is powerful and her coaching is transformative.

I must mention Diane Hunter — this courageous and gorgeous Mom is healing the minds and hearts of parents who are living with an autistic child.  Diane exudes pure love and is such a gifted coach.

Elise Touchette and I, oddly enough, worked together YEARS ago when I lived in Seattle. It was such a pleasure and a surprise to meet Elise again as part of the not-so-big Martha Beck tribe of coaches.  Elise is a career and life coach and she knows her stuff.  She has worked in some of the biggest companies and, er, some of the most dysfunctional (I know this because the one we worked at together put the fun in disfunctional!).  You will love her.  I certainly do.

I met so many amazing coaches doing such important work in the world –just to mention a few more,  Lin Eleoff is a blessing for female lawyers, Kelly Pratt is helping women get their mojo back through creativity, Amy Pearson helps moms lose weight and find happiness,  Sheila Wittington is working with kids and families (she is also an incredible speaker with boundless energy), Jennifer Armstrong works with people who are dealing with chronic pain, and Theresa Robbins works not only with moms but families who are dealing with a diagnosis of a chronic illness.

I will return to Rome on Wednesday, arriving just in time for my daughter’s last day of school and then we will leave on a family vacation for the Dalmatia coast of Croatia.  The coolest part about my work is that no matter where I am in the world, I can still be working with women who are launching their businesses.  And that how I am changing the world right now — helping coaches, energy workers, therapists, nutritionists — women who are called to heal and transform– launch their businesses with minimal stress so they get on with doing their work in the world.

Do you know others who are changing the world?  Are you?  Tell me about it in the comments.

Changing the world one yoga student at a time, along with the fantastic community of yoga teachers I work with. It’s not much but every little helps right?!

So many women are changing the world in their own little ways and that rocks!

Loved this post :)

Rachel — I couldn’t agree more! We are all changing the world, one heart, mind, and body at a time — starting with ourselves, right? I believe Yoga is one of the most powerful ways to change the world and I’m so glad you and your community are committed to it. xoxo

Helen, you are lighting up the world, friend. It was a complete delight to see you and get to hang out with you. Let’s do that again sooner than later.

Nona, I’m finally getting around to reading all the blogs I love to read – yours being at the top of the list. Not surprising to read that you are having exactly the same sentiments that I am after coming home from the conference in CO (and especially cool and humbling to be mentioned among all of those amazing coaches!)
My only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to spend time with you. It was a transformational week for me. Nona, Thanks for all you do!
